Job summary

Valero's Internship Program in the United States offers hands-on experience in reliability and project engineering across refinery operations. As an hourly, nonexempt internship, you will be expected to work on-site, 40 hours per week, and participate in mentoring and pre-employment checks.

Candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum 3.2 GPA and graduation between Aug 2027 and May 2029.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or higher)
• Overall GPA 3.2+ on a 4.0 scale preferred
• Graduation between Aug 2027 and May 2029 required
• Able to work 40 hours per week on-site

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment operation and maintenance issues to improve reliability.
• Develop and support project engineering scopes for capital and maintenance projects.

Major Accountabilities

• Reliability Engineering: Troubleshoots equipment operation & maintenance problems. Analyzes equipment performance. Implements programs to improve reliability & decrease reactive maintenance.
• Project Engineering: Develops & engineers project scope for variety of capital expense and maintenance projects. Supports timely & efficient project execution.

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in Mechanical Engineering, required.
• Overall GPA of 3.2 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale, preferred.
• Graduation dates of August 2027 through May 2029, required.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week, required.
• Able and willing to work on-site and in-person, required.
