Job summary

Roush in Livonia, MI is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Spring 2027. You will join the Advanced Engineering Department to work on real-world automotive projects and gain hands-on experience in design, analysis, and fabrication environments.

You'll support build and assembly, diagnose problems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This paid, onsite internship requires 40 hours per week from January to May 2027 and offers exposure to cutting-edge vehicle technologies.

Qualifications

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our growing team in the Advanced Engineering Department for the Spring of 2027. This is an onsite 40-hour-per-week paid internship position located in Livonia, MI.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be able to work a 40-hour work week from January 2027- May 2027
• Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. lawful permanent resident allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering; Mechanical or Mechatronics preferred
• Minimum of freshman standing
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Proficiency in MS Office applications
• Strong desire to learn and apply concepts related to engineering system design & development or manufacturing in the automotive industry
• Passion for working on vehicles and mechanical systems
• Ability to think outside the box and enjoy research and development type activities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands‑on automotive/mechanical diagnosis and repair experience
• CAD experience (SolidWorks, Catia V5/V6 or similar)
• Prior internship experience in an automotive related environment
• Interest in electric and autonomous vehicles and technology
