Job summary

Roush is seeking a Powertrain Calibration Intern for the Summer of 2026 to join the powertrain calibration and integration team. The role spans dynamometer and vehicle-based calibration of gasoline and diesel powertrains, with emphasis on testing, data interpretation, and development support.

The internship is located in Allen Park and Livonia, MI, with 40-hour weeks Monday through Friday. Ideal candidates are pursuing mechanical, electrical, or automotive engineering, have hands-on ICE

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor's or master's in mechanical, electrical, or automotive engineering.
• Available for winter/spring 2027 (Jan–May).
• Able to work 40+ hours per week M-F.
• Hands-on internal combustion engine experience.
• Proficient in Excel and MATLAB/Simulink.

Responsibilities

• Aid in dynamometer and vehicle-based calibration for ICE.
• Support vehicle testing including drivability, emissions, and durability.
• Analyze, interpret, and present test data.
• Support hot, cold, and high-altitude development testing.
• Assist in test bench and control system development.
• Assist prototype wiring harness design and manufacturing.

We are looking for a Powertrain Calibration Intern to join our powertrain calibration and integration team for the Summer of 2026. The Intern will work within a small team of engineers and be challenged to calibrate, test, and integrate gasoline, and diesel powertrain packages on dynamometers and in vehicles. The Intern will also support testing and validation of many powertrain components. This position is a paid internship and is located in Allen Park and Livonia, MI. Candidates must be available M-F 40 hours for winter/spring (Jan-May) 2027

As a Powertrain Calibration Intern, you will be responsible for:

• Aiding in dynamometer and vehicle-based calibration and integration for Internal Combustion Engines (ICE)
• Supporting vehicle testing including drivability, emissions, and durability
• Analyzing, interpreting, and presenting test data
• Supporting hot, cold, and high-altitude development testing
• Assisting in test bench and control system development
• Supporting prototype wiring harness design and manufacturing

To be considered as a Powertrain Calibration Intern, you will need:

• Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or automotive engineering
• Must be available for winter/spring (Jan-May)semester of 2027
• Must be able to work a 40+ hour work week M-F
• Must have specific hands-on internal combustion engineexperience
• Strong Excel and MATLAB / Simulink (or similar) experience
• Ability to read and interpret various programming languages (C, MATLAB, VBA, etc.)
• Must have a minimum sophomore standing
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Willingness to travel and/or work overtime upon request

A successful candidate may also have:

• Previous experience with engine dynamometer testing
• Experience with CAN bus (or similar) protocol and communication
• Formula SAE/Baja or other automotive competition experience
