Job summary

Plexus Corp. is seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Engineering intern to join our product development team in Raleigh, NC. You will assist in designing components, creating 3D models, and supporting prototype builds across the product lifecycle.

You will work under senior engineers, gain hands-on experience with Creo Parametric or SolidWorks, and contribute to real-world projects while developing professional skills and a strong engineering foundation.

Qualifications

• Student working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering for the entire internship duration.
• Sophomore or Junior status preferred; GPA 3.0+ preferred.
• Experience with Creo Parametric and/or SolidWorks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical components and system concepts that satisfy the customer's requirements.
• Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings under the guidance of senior engineers, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design standards.
• Assist in building and assembling prototypes, including cutting, drilling, using a mill or lathe, and assembling components, following safety procedures.
• Perform simple tests on materials or prototypes, record data accurately, and assist in organizing and presenting test results.
• Complete preliminary analysis on tolerance stack ups, thermal or structural under the guidance of senior engineers, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
• Attend meetings, contribute ideas, and take notes while learning from experienced engineers.
