Job summary

IMEG Corp in Naperville, IL is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern to assist with design portions of projects, research equipment, and coordinate with multiple disciplines.

The internship runs for 10-12 weeks in the summer, full-time, in the office. A mentor and structured program will guide the intern, with potential to convert to a full-time role after the program.

Qualifications

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong interest in design consulting.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Clear oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
  • Preferred: prior internship in building design consulting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards.
  • Research commercially available equipment.
  • Support client relations and maintain project design notebook; provide documentation for permanent records.
  • Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, tech, clerical, and equipment suppliers).
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions; monitor project design progress.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards
  • Assist with researching commercially available equipment
  • Support client relations, maintain the project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files
  • Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers
  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check
  • Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement
What You'll Bring
  • Required Education: Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Required Experience: None required
  • Required Skills/Abilities:
    • Strong interest in design consulting
    • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (Building Information Model) software
    • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Preferred: Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry
Salary

Salary: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour.
