Responsibilities

  • Assist with design portions of discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards.
  • Research commercially available equipment for project use.
  • Support client relations and maintain project design notebooks for permanent records.
  • Coordinate design and schedule with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical teams and equipment suppliers.
  • Document design decisions and meetings promptly while monitoring progress.
  • Review project documents for accuracy prior to final checks.
  • Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and assist as required by the contract services agreement.
  • Collaborate across teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Idaho Falls, ID. Over 10-12 weeks, you will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants on engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry.

You will support project design, documentation, coordination, and site observations while working within project budgets and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. You will contribute to industrial and manufacturing-focused work while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA 2030.

What You’ll Do
  • Assistwith design portions of discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards.
  • Research commercially available equipment for project use.

  • Assistwith coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical and equipment suppliers.
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions promptly whilemonitoringproject design progress.
  • Assistwith review of all project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
  • Assistwith preparation and issuance of addendum information.
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement.
  • Work within the project’s monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
What You’ll Bring
Required
Education
  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Preferred
  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
