Job summary

WSP USA is offering a Mechanical Engineering Intern - Summer 2027 position in our Columbia, MD office. The internship is part of the WSP Summer Internship Program and targets students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Mechanical Engineering program.

The 12-week program starts May 17, 2027, with flexible start dates. As an intern, you will support engineering tasks, learn basic Mechanical Engineering principles, assist with research, design calculations, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Mechanical Engineering and desire to advance skills related to WSP's work.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Mechanical Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
