Teledyne FLIR seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern to assist the engineering team in developing a new gimbal product. The role is part‑time (15–20 hrs/week) with flexible scheduling to fit student commitments, in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Interns will gain hands‑on experience across product design, environmental testing, and 2D drafting, while exploring stress/thermal topics and electronics packaging. English fluency and proactive communication are essential.

Job Description

Teledyne FLIR seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the mechanical engineering department in the development of a new gimbal product. This position would be a part‑time role and would be flexible to work around student’s schedules with a target of 15-20 hrs per week. Internswillworkin adynamic,diverse,and collaborativeteamsolving problemsandacquiringhands‑on experience in a wide range of areas including product design, manufacturing, environmental testing, and 2D drafting.

Throughout the program, participants will gain exposure to many fundamental disciplines of mechanical engineering: stress and strain, hot and cold thermal solutions, electronics and opto‑mechanical packaging.

Potential tasks for a Mechanical Engineering Intern include but are not limited to:

• DVT Test creation, execution and documentation
• Prototype part inventory management
• Assembly documentation creation and fixture design
• Procurement tracking and coordination

Mustbe able to begin working part‑time in the fall term.English speaking is required due to the collaborative nature of the internship program.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Junior/Senior in 4‑year BS degree program for Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar engineering degree.
• Experience designing and building products
• Design for 3D printing and experience optimizing parts for 3D printing.
• Strong verbal and written communicator.
• Highly recommended: Expert user in MS Excel and familiarity with Solidworks.

Preferred :

Experience with 3D CAD (Solidworks preferred) and MS Office
