Job summary

Seasats seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern to design and test mechanical components for autonomous surface vessels. You will work closely with engineers to model parts, update drawings, and assist with fixtures and testing in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.

The internship runs in-person from early January to May 2027, with full-time hours and a 40-hour work week at our San Diego office. Applicants should be prepared to contribute across mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces.

Qualifications

• Completed 2-3 years of coursework towards a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Hands-on SolidWorks experience for part/assembly design.
• Ability to read and create basic mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical parts and simple assemblies in CAD (SolidWorks).
• Update CAD models, drawings, and basic BOMs.
• Assist with fixtures, tooling, and jigs for assembly and testing.
• Support part sourcing and supplier communication.
• Assemble and inspect mechanical components and subassemblies.
• Participate in testing of new and existing vehicle components.
• Help manage documentation and design file organization.
• Collaborate with ME, EE, and software teams on electro-mechanical systems.
