Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is offering a Summer Internship Program across multiple U.S. locations, including hands-on work with cutting-edge aerospace technology. Interns will design mechanical components, build 3D CAD models in SolidWorks, and support simulations and prototyping in a collaborative environment.

Current students pursuing Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering will gain practical experience, participate in design reviews, and contribute to real projects alongside AV engineers.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Basic experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
• Familiarity with machined parts, sheet metal, plastics or composites.
• Hands-on prototyping, lab testing or mechanical assembly through projects.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Motivated to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in mechanical design of airframes, payload enclosures, ground equipment and launch systems.
• Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies in SolidWorks.
• Support simulation tasks using SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS.
• Participate in prototype fabrication and testing using in-house tools.
• Generate technical drawings and Bills of Materials per drafting standards.
• Collaborate with engineers on design reviews and tests.
• Contribute to design progress documentation and test results.
