Job summary

Charter Manufacturing invites motivated engineering students to join our team as Mechanical Engineering interns in Ohio. The program runs part-time during the academic year (15–20 hours/week) and full-time in the summer, based in Fostoria, OH, starting January 2027 and continuing year-round.

You will update plant layouts, design parts in AutoCAD, support maintenance, and contribute to process improvements while gaining mentorship and hands-on experience on real manufacturing projects.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• GPA of 2.75 or higher.
• Proficient in MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to work well in a team and manage multiple tasks.
• Preferred experience in Advanced Excel and analyst skills.
• AutoCAD experience.
• Exposure to Lean manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools.

Responsibilities

• Update plant layouts and P&ID drawings to support engineering and maintenance projects.
• Design and modify parts in AutoCAD for fabrication by local vendors.
• Partner with the Maintenance team to troubleshoot equipment issues and identify root causes.
• Organize and maintain mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Support process improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and productivity.
• Collaborate with vendors and contractors on plant projects and equipment improvements.
