Job summary

Charter Manufacturing in Ohio invites a Mechanical Engineering internship focused on interpreting pneumatic, hydraulic, and P&ID schematics; design components using AutoCAD; and apply machine safety and continuous improvement principles. You’ll strengthen technical skills while collaborating on real-world manufacturing projects.

You will gain hands-on experience with engineering and maintenance projects, with mentorship and professional development opportunities as part of a paid internship.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a four‑year degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Ability to succeed in a team environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks
• AutoCAD experience
• Exposure to Lean manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Tools.

Responsibilities

• Update plant layouts and P&ID drawings to support engineering and maintenance projects.
• Design and modify parts in AutoCAD for fabrication by local vendors.
• Partner with the Maintenance team to troubleshoot equipment issues and identify root causes of failures.
• Organize and maintain mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Support process improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and productivity.
• Collaborate with vendors and contractors on plant projects and equipment improvements.
