Job summary

GFT, an award-winning architecture, engineering, and construction firm, seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a mid-May through mid-August timeframe in Mechanicsburg, PA. You will join a skilled team, receive mentorship from experienced engineers, and contribute to design services across diverse projects.

The majority of interns convert to full-time. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams, performing design calculations, and preparing technical drawings.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• Demonstrated interest in mechanical engineering careers within the A/E/C industry through coursework, internships, or other experiences.
• Basic proficiency with Revit 3D or equivalent.
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated with a keen desire to learn.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on client projects, contributing to design and development processes.
• Work closely with engineers to understand project requirements and propose innovative solutions.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations and design system layouts (piping, ductwork, etc.), including equipment sizing and coordination of trades.
• Assist in reviewing and modifying designs based on project needs and participate in field survey work as required.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including design specifications, reports, and technical drawings.
