Job summary

IMEG in Madison, WI is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in-office, 10–12 weeks, 100% ESOP-owned firm. You will assist with analysis, design, and oversight of mechanical systems for education, government, and healthcare projects, while collaborating with a team of engineers and consultants on real project work.

You’ll contribute to documentation, coordination, and site observations, supporting budgets and cross-functional collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years toward a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• No prior internship required; prior internship in building design is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist design portions of projects per IMEG standards.
• Research commercially available equipment.
• Support client relations and maintain project design notebook.
• Coordinate design and schedule with architectural, structural, electrical teams.
• Document design decisions and client instructions; monitor progress.
• Prepare and issue addendum information; review documents for accuracy.
