Job summary

IMEG in Madison, WI is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week summer program. Over 10-12 weeks, you’ll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry while working closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants on real project work.

This internship supports work within project budgets and cross-functional collaboration to help meet project goals and client expectations.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years towards a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong interest in design consulting and collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written forms.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards.
• Assist with researching commercially available equipment.
• Support client relations and maintain the project design notebook for permanent records.
• Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, and vendors.
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy before final checks and assist with addendum preparation.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and support contract services as required.

What You’ll Do

What You’ll Bring

Education

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required

Required Skills/Abilities

• Strong interest in design consulting
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (Building Information Model) software
• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Salary:

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour.
