Shield AI offers a Summer Internship for Fall and Spring graduates to work on our Air Vehicle Systems and Test Teams. Interns contribute to real programs, from requirements through design, build, test, and data review, under mentorship.

You will develop CAD models, size hardware, and support test articles and fixtures. The role emphasizes ownership, teamwork, and fast learning in a high-growth tech environment, with paid holidays and relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Student or early-career engineer pursuing undergrad/grad/PhD in STEM fields.
• Strong foundations in mechanics, thermodynamics, fluids, heat transfer, physics, and math.
• Multidisciplinary hardware exposure through internships, jobs, labs, or clubs.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated ownership of project outcomes and reliable teamwork.
• Commitment to high standards and respectful collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own a scoped design project and support adjacent team needs.
• Translate objectives into requirements, interfaces, and test plans with mentors.
• Develop CAD models/drawings for brackets, mounts, tooling, fixtures.
• Use first-principles calculations to size hardware and assess risks.
• Support fabrication, assembly, instrumentation, and checkout of hardware.
• Define instrumentation needs; write test procedures; assist testing.
• Analyze test data, compare with requirements, and propose improvements.
• Participate in design and test reviews; document work and present results.
