Job summary

Formlabs is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Winter/Spring 2027 to design, assemble, test, and evaluate 3D printers. You will participate in design reviews, prototype components, and create engineering drawings while learning documentation control.

This onsite internship in Somerville, MA offers hands-on engineering experience, collaboration with vendors, and exposure to rapid prototyping in a real-world product environment.

Qualifications

• A portfolio of your previous engineering work/projects is required.
• Internship term: Winter/Spring 2027 (January - April).
• Location: Onsite in Somerville, MA.

Responsibilities

• Design, assemble, test, and evaluate the performance of 3D printers.
• Participate in design reviews and help solve design, engineering, and manufacturing problems.
• Build prototype components and assemblies using our in-house facilities.
• Put your CAD skills to work designing parts and assemblies, creating engineering drawings and learning documentation control.
• Assist with direct communications to our vendors and suppliers to help overcome production challenges.
