Job summary

Formlabs in Somerville, MA is seeking a Hardware Systems Integration Intern to join a cross-disciplinary team and help advance reliability of our 3D printers. You’ll design studies, build test setups, debug electro-mechanical issues, and write Python scripts to support characterization.

Winter/Spring 2027 (January–April), full-time onsite. A portfolio of your engineering work is required for consideration.

Qualifications

• Portfolio of previous engineering work is required.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical or electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience in lab research or project teams.
• Resume and portfolio highlighting learning.

Responsibilities

• Design and run studies to characterize printer performance.
• Build test setups to evaluate subsystem reliability.
• Debug electro-mechanical issues with cross-functional teams.
• Write Python scripts and tools to support studies.
• Polish time management and communication as an engineer.
• Assist in building and commissioning prototypes.
