Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Sacramento, CA is seeking Mechanical Engineering students for Summer 2027 on-site internships. The role involves analyzing designs, producing deliverables, and QC checks for diverse projects including airports and facilities.

You will work with the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing team on large-scale HVAC design, under supervision of project managers. Ideal candidates are pursuing an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) and are eager to apply

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree expected or in progress.

• Perform general mechanical engineering tasks supporting multiple project managers.
• Support HVAC design within the MEP team on large-scale projects.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Mechanical Engineering students to join our Sacramento, California (CA) office in Summer 2027! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Perform general mechanical engineering tasks supporting various project managers as required.
• Support our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing team specifically working on large scale HVAC design.
• Project type will vary but may include Airports, Facilities, Universities, and more.

Qualifications

• In the process of receiving an ABET accredited Mechanical Engineering Degree (Bachelors or Masters).

Hourly Rate: $32.00/hr - $33.00/hr
