Job summary

SPX Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to assist the team with testing prototype products prior to release. You will also help with documentation, assembly and testing of alpha units for upcoming product releases.

Responsibilities include beta testing in lab environments, contributing to design and analysis tasks, and leading other projects as assigned. Requires progress toward a bachelor's in Mechanical Eng or related field, with GPA 3.0+

Qualifications

• Student working towards a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or related engineering field.
• Must have completed third year of engineering studies.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Responsibilities

• Beta testing of products using test lab, terrarium, and in-pipe testing tools.
• Alpha testing NPD products including assembly and testing.
• Develop documentation for beta and alpha products.
• Lead other projects as assigned or proposed by you.

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will assist the Mechanical Engineering team with testing prototype products prior to their release. You will also assist with documentation, assembly and testing of alpha units for the upcoming product release.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

• Provide support to the Mechanical Engineering team with technical activities required on assigned projects such as:
  • Beta testing of products using test lab, terrarium, and in-pipe testing tools
  • Alpha testing NPD products including assembly and testing
  • Develop documentation for beta and alpha products
• Contribute to design and analysis tasks as assigned.
• Lead other projects as assigned or proposed by you.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience and Education

• Student working towards a bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, or other related Engineering field
• Candidates must have completed their third year of engineering studies
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

• High problem-solving skills and self-direction

• Company will not provide sponsorship of position - must be eligible to work in US

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Familiarity with technical drawings
• Mechanical aptitude for machines, tools, and testing
• Technical hands-on experience with Microsoft Office products

Travel & Working Environment

• Manufacturing Environment frequently requires use of foot and eye protection when in production areas
• Ability to climb, stoop, crouch and crawl
• Ability to lift/move up to 25lbs occasionally
