Cushing Terrell is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Minneapolis, MN team. This in-person role supports our Mechanical Engineering group on real client projects, offering hands‑on experience with calculations, system design, and BIM modeling in Revit and AutoCAD.

You will gain exposure to building codes (IMC, UPC, ASHRAE), participate in site visits, and contribute to project specifications while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

• Completion of 3+ years of a mechanical engineering or related undergraduate program.
• Basic knowledge of Revit or AutoCAD.
• Basic knowledge of Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Bluebeam.

Position Description

Mechanical Engineering Intern at Cushing Terrell. This is an in-person internship supporting our Mechanical Engineering team on real client projects.

What does this role involve day to day?

You will gain hands‑on experience performing engineering calculations and designing mechanical systems, including building heating and cooling load calculations.

What will I create?

You will help model mechanical and plumbing systems in Revit and AutoCAD, schedule mechanical equipment, and compile project specifications.

What does success look like in this internship?

You will review building codes and standards, including IMC, UPC, and ASHRAE, participate in site visits before and during construction, and leave with a clear picture of what it means to work in the AEC industry.

Position Wage Range*

The expected wage range for this position is $21.00 to $26.00 per hour.

Required Qualifications**

• Completion of 3+ years of a mechanical engineering or related undergraduate program
• Basic knowledge of Revit or AutoCAD

• Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate's years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job‑related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.

• The majority of the time, a person in this role will be sitting in an office with limited physical requirements. This may require individuals to bend, stretch, twist, and reach.
