McKim & Creed, Inc. in Nashville, TN is seeking a Mechanical Group Manager to lead a team delivering mechanical, plumbing and fire protection design services for institutional, commercial and industrial facilities.

The role includes developing new clients and ensuring high-quality service through operational excellence. You will oversee resource allocation, project budgeting, and cross-functional collaboration, while driving growth in the BEI division.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with PE registration or ability to acquire FL PE via reciprocity.
  • 8+ years of mechanical design and HVAC system analysis experience.
  • Leadership and business-development talents to grow the business and expand market share.
  • Ability to work as part of a project team.
  • Self-motivation and independence to complete work assignments.
  • Technical competence, teamwork and strong communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.

Responsibilities

Overview

We currently have a Mechanical Group Manager opportunity within our Buildings, Energy and Infrastructure (BEI) division within our Nashville, TN office. This is a step up from a Project Manager for someone wanting to take the next step in their career. In this role, not only will you provide technical and design services for mechanical (MEP) projects, you will be developing new clients as well as delivering responsive, high‑quality service to all clients through operational excellence.

During Your Work‑Day, You Will:
  • Provide technical and design services for mechanical projects as part of a multi‑discipline project team to produce mechanical, plumbing and fire protection design/construction drawings and specifications for institutional, commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Develop new clients as well as deliver responsive, high‑quality service to all clients through operational excellence.
  • Prepare proposals and make presentations to clients.
  • Allocate resources, balance manpower and assign tasks to projects, ensuring timeliness, quality and adherence to established budgets for the group’s projects.
  • Interact with clients, conduct preliminary evaluations, prepare reports, produce design drawings, prepare technical specifications and submit permits for mechanical engineering projects.
  • Identify, recruit and develop new regional team members including managers, engineers, production staff and administrative staff as needed.
  • Function as Project Manager when required.
  • Collaborate across McKim & Creed to sell and deliver company‑wide services.
What You’ll Need:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with PE registration or ability to quickly acquire FL PE through reciprocity.
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical design and HVAC system analysis.
  • Leadership and business‑development talents to grow the business and expand market share in the building systems and energy infrastructure sectors.
  • Ability to work as part of a project team.

What Will Make You Stand Out:
  • Experience with plumbing and fire protection systems is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with healthcare work is preferred but not required.
