Job summary

Flex is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op to join our Libertyville, IL site for Spring 2027. You will work closely with the Engineering team on time studies, CAD documentation and DOE projects, gaining hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.

As a current BS/MS student in Mechanical Engineering, you will contribute to building and improving manufacturing processes, documenting procedures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver results while meeting a 3.0 GPA

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with 2D/3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, Inventor or SolidWorks).
• Lean/Six Sigma helpful.
• Enthusiastic about working in a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Previous co-op/internship experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Engineering Team with time studies, reviewing documentation, drawings and CAD.
• Assist in writing working instructions, check list and other documents related to manufacturing equipment.
• Help research and recommend support equipment required for continuous production.
• Help design and monitor Engineering DOE (Design Of Experiment) projects.
• Collaborate with Engineering Team with writing reports and reporting findings to team.
• Attend team meetings and support project work as needed.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op located in our Libertyville, IL site.
Reporting to theSenior Process Engineering Manager, the student will assist with daily engineering tasks while learning, collaborating and working alongside Engineers and cross-functional teams.

What a typical day looks like:

• Assist Engineering Team with time studies, reviewing documentation, drawings and CAD
• Assist in writing working instructions, check list and other documents related to manufacturing equipment
• Help research and recommend support equipment required for continuous production
• Help design and monitor Engineering DOE (Design Of Experiment) projects
• Collaborate with Engineering Team with writing reports and reporting findings to team

Student qualities we’re seeking for this Co-Op assignment:

• Current BS/MS student pursuing Mechanical Engineering major
• 2D and 3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, Inventor or Solidworks) experience
• Lean/Six Sigma helpful
• Enthusiastic about working in a manufacturing environment
• Highly collaborative, creative and excellent communication skills
• Previous co-op/internship experience a plus!

Co-Op Program Requirements:

• Available to work 40 hours/week (in-person) for the Spring 2027 co-op assignment
• Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university
• 3.0 minimum GPA
