Job summary

Moseley Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support U.S. Navy surface ship programs by designing, developing, testing, and integrating mechanical and electromechanical systems. You will work across the full engineering lifecycle in a DoD environment.

The role involves CAD modeling, documentation, testing, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams to ensure successful installation and qualification of systems aboard surface ships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 2+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree plus 6 months of relevant experience.
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, or supporting mechanical or electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency using 3D CAD modeling tools to develop mechanical models and drawings.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and mechanical design principles.
  • Familiarity with government, military, or industry engineering standards and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, implement, build, and install mechanical and electromechanical equipment for Navy Surface Ship programs.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams through the product lifecycle from concept to production and installation.
  • Develop mechanical designs, 3D models, drawings, and documentation using CAD software.
  • Perform mechanical analysis and support prototype development, system integration, and verification testing.
  • Support manufacturing, production, installation, and sustainment activities for successful product implementation.
  • Participate in environmental testing and validation of mechanical systems and assemblies.
  • Ensure designs comply with engineering principles, government specifications, and industry standards.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation for design reviews, testing, fabrication, and installation.

Mechanical Engineer – Surface Ships / Electromechanical Systems

Pay Estimated: $43.62 - $48.62/Hour

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Surface Ships / Electromechanical Systems to support U.S. Navy Surface Ship programs by designing, developing, testing, and integrating mechanical and electromechanical systems. This role supports the complete engineering lifecycle, including mechanical design, CAD modeling, electronics packaging, manufacturing support, installation, environmental testing, and engineering documentation in a collaborative DoD engineering environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, implement, build, and install mechanical and electromechanical equipment supporting U.S. Navy Surface Ship programs.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept through production and installation.
  • Develop mechanical designs, 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using CAD software.
  • Perform mechanical analysis and support prototype development, system integration, and verification testing.

Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline plus 2+ years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree plus 6 months of relevant experience.
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, or supporting mechanical or electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency using 3D CAD modeling tools to develop mechanical models and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and mechanical design principles.
  • Familiarity with government, military, or industry engineering standards and technical documentation.
  • Experience supporting product development, prototype fabrication, testing, or system integration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing electromechanical equipment.
  • Experience with electronics packaging design.
  • Production or manufacturing support experience.
  • Installation support for mechanical systems or shipboard equipment.
  • Environmental testing and qualification experience.
  • Mechanical modeling, engineering analysis, or simulation experience.
  • Experience developing detailed engineering drawings and design documentation.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Navy, maritime, or Department of Defense programs.
