Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a structures-focused Mechanical Engineer to own the design and delivery of critical production infrastructure. You will work on large-scale steel structures, factory support systems, GSE, and tooling that must withstand heavy loads and rapid operational cycles.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, facilities, and construction teams to integrate structural systems with equipment and ensure adherence to SpaceX standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, structural, or aerospace engineering.
• 1+ years of professional experience in structural design or analysis of steel structures, aero-structures, heavy industrial equipment, or large-scale mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design of Starship production infrastructure across scales, from tooling fixtures to factory bays.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, composite, and similar materials under static, dynamic, and handling loads.
• Develop and review structural drawings, connection details, fabrication packages, and erection sequences.
• Partner with manufacturing, operations, facilities, mechanical, electrical, and construction teams to integrate structural systems with production equipment and cranes.
• Support fabrication and construction activities, including review of shop drawings and weld procedures.
• Drive design decisions balancing performance, cost, schedule, and constructability for high-volume production environments.
• Manage scopes through the full project lifecycle from concept through turnover.
• Interface with external firms to ensure designs meet SpaceX standards and are executed to specification.
• Perform project control functions including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
• Resolve field conflicts in real time and implement rapid design changes as needed.
• Own end-to-end delivery of projects with on-time and on-budget performance.
