Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Colorado is seeking a dedicated engineer to join the Post Boost Control System (PBCS) IPT as an RSE Delegate. You will provide technical oversight for the D5LE2 PBCS and act as a technical advocate across the lifecycle, coordinating with Navy partners, LM leadership, and suppliers to ensure mission success.

Job description

Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin’s best-in-class Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity and reliability. Controls Engineering is an organization within FBM that facilitates control of the missile through servo actuators, gas hydraulic systems and small rocket motors.

We are a community of engineers looking for a dependable engineer to join our tight-knit group. The Mechanical Controls group is an organization within FBM that is responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost. This position is for an Engineer in the Post Boost Control System (PBCS) IPT that both collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. In this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the PBCS IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership, and suppliers, with many opportunities for career development along the way. The PBCS IPT is responsible for the development, manufacture, and management of the PBCS which is an attitude control and propulsive subsystem controlling the missile in a phase of the flight.

This role is as a RSE Delegate for the PBCS which provides a single technical point of contact for the entire PBCS and each product within the PBCS while providing continuity of product knowledge and source data. Management of these component and system relationships provides traceability of all products, the product owners, and the required accountability. The RSE Delegate should be a knowledgeable, experienced, trained specialist who will act as a technical advocate for the product through the product's lifecycle from requirements definition through mission operations. This RSE Delegate is responsible and accountable for proper performance and Mission Success of the PBCS throughout its lifecycle by resisting inappropriate compromise and risk, and balancing technical performance against cost and schedule pressures while ensuring Mission Success.

As a Valued Member Of Our Team You Will
  • Report to the FBM Controls PBCS Manager/ FBM Chief Systems Engineer and is responsible for providing technical oversight of the Trident II (D5LE2) PBCS and Mission Success throughout the life cycle of the missile sub-system.
  • Is the technical expert who maintains a full understanding of the D5LE2 PBCS and verifies compliance with sub system requirements.
  • Is the technical advocate for the D5LE2 PBCS who gathers performance information, supports major reviews, and participates in critical production, critical missile design decisions and alteration activities to support overall missile system assessments.
  • Participates in problem investigations, troubleshooting, development of corrective action plans, and integration of technical requirements with facility and fleet operation activities.
  • Integrate new development efforts into SWF operations and capabilities to support new fleet deployments including Columbia and Dreadnought class SSBNs.
  • Is responsible for having a complete understanding of program-unique and Space command media which ensures the PBCS meet technical requirements throughout their lifecycle.
  • Is accountable for the technical integrity of the D5 PBCS. This includes ensuring compatibility between internal interfaces and across interfacing subsystems of the Strategic Weapon System (e.g., Launcher, Guidance, and SSBN).
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other technical personnel to create program plans and track the plans through execution
  • Experience working with cross functional teams
  • Experience successfully leading projects with teams and suppliers
  • Experience understanding customer needs, such as participating in Customer Value Propositions or similar
  • Experience putting together presentations to internal senior leaders such as Directors
  • Active or ability to gain a DoD security clearance
Desired Skills
  • Missile and/or aerospace related education or experience
  • Missile and/or space propulsion hardware experience
  • Missile and/or space propulsion subsystem experience
  • Experience with FBM processes and products

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
