Job summary

Protingent is seeking a Mechanical Engineer skilled in steam systems for a direct-hire role in Austin, TX. You will own the steam-cycle mechanical design from heat balance to detailed engineering, including sizing, piping layouts, and equipment specifications, interfacing with turbine OEMs.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of steam system experience, familiarity with ASME B31.1/B31.3 and BPVC, and strong capability to produce deliverables such as P&IDs, datasheets, and isometrics.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in steam systems design.
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
• Experience with ASME B31.1 and/or B31.3, BPVC sections.
• Sizing, layout, and specification of high-energy steam and feedwater piping.
• Hands-on lab/factory work experience considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own steam-cycle mechanical design from heat balance through detailed engineering.
• Perform pipe stress and water hammer analyses and two-phase flow studies.
• Develop and review P&IDs, PFDs, datasheets, isometrics, and design basis documents.
• Lead interface with turbine OEM on steam admission conditions and extraction points.
• Participate in design reviews, vendor qualification, factory acceptance tests, commissioning and root-cause analysis.
