Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Specialist Mechanical Engineer to support design efforts, performing mechanical design, analysis, and reviews to validate proposed designs for structural and thermal performance.

You will develop solid models and drawings, conduct finite element and thermal analyses, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with engineers to optimize components for mission-critical applications in a fast-paced defense environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years of experience.
• Graduate degree may be preferred for advanced roles.
• Experience with mechanical design, analysis, and documentation per ASME Y14.100.

Responsibilities

• Develop working designs, solid models, and layouts for complex parts and mechanisms using MCAD/MCAE tools.
• Create/review detail and assembly drawings to ASME Y14.100 and internal standards.
• Perform and document structural and thermal analyses, including FEA, and conduct modal/shock/vibration analysis.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to optimize designs for structural and thermal performance.
• Prepare and review design documentation to contract requirements and internal standards.
• Assist procurement and contribute to technical proposals as part of program capture.
• Estimate manpower and resources and support Integrated Master Schedule creation.
• Prepare and present internal and external design reviews (PDR/CDR) to verify compliance.
