Job summary

Applied Materials in Santa Clara, CA is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to apply physics, mathematics and materials science to design and improve mechanical layouts and tooling throughout the product life cycle.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to oversee manufacturing processes, analyze problems, and implement mechanical solutions, with travel up to 10% and relocation eligibility.

Qualifications

• Performs engineering analysis under general supervision.
• Designs or modifies mechanical layouts/schematics and/or detailed drawings under supervision.
• Performs and documents engineering tests under general supervision.
• Coordinates procurement and assembly of mechanical components/equipment and identifies sources of critical parts.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering analysis under general supervision
• Design or modify mechanical engineering layouts/schematics and/or detailed drawings/specifications of moderate scope under general supervision
• Perform and document engineering tests under general supervision
• Generate related alpha/gamma documentation for product release under general supervision
• Coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components/equipment and identify sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve moderately complex technical issues
• Troubleshoot a variety of mechanical problems of moderate difficulty under general supervision
• Implement concepts of moderate product issues and mechanical solutions of moderate difficulty
• May design, develop and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing, and associated processes to enable handling and assembly throughout product life cycle
