Job summary

Applied Materials in Santa Clara, CA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to design, develop, and modify mechanical layouts and tooling throughout the product life cycle. You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes, coordinate procurement of components, and work on resolving technical issues, with emphasis on CAD-based design and GD&T.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
2–4 years of related experience.
Strong foundation in physics, math and materials science.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering analysis under general supervision.
Design or modify mechanical layouts, schematics, or drawings.
Coordinate procurement and assembly of components for design projects.
Develop and document engineering test reports and product releases.
Troubleshoot mechanical problems of moderate difficulty.
Design, develop and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing and associated processes as needed.
Enable handling, assembly and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle.
