Qualifications

Job description

As part of Tecnicas Reunidas expansion of its LNG Engineering Centre of Excelence in Houston, Texas, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer specialized in rotating equipment to support major LNG projects in North America.

This is a hands‑on technical role focused on the specification, selection, commissioning, and operational support of compressors, pumps, turbomachinery, and drivers—particularly in cryogenic applications.

The ideal candidate brings strong field experience, leadership on LNG projects, and deep technical expertise in rotating machinery.

As a Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Equipment, you will:

  • Specify and select rotating equipment, including: reciprocating and centrifugal compressors, cryogenic pumps, electric motors and gas turbine drivers, auxiliary systems
  • Develop and review: equipment datasheets, performance curves, vendor proposals and technical evaluations
  • Perform engineering analyses, including: rotor dynamics checks, vibration assessments, speed and torque calculations
  • Coordinate detailed technical studies with OEMs and specialist vendors
  • Define alignment, foundation, and coupling requirements in coordination with civil and structural teams
  • Manage vendor technical clarifications and reviews
  • Review and approve: vendor drawings, test procedures, FAT/SAT reports, string test documentation
  • Provide on‑site commissioning and startup support
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues during construction and operations
  • Support operations and maintenance during the warranty period
  • Contribute to: maintenance strategies, reliability‑centered design, spare parts lists
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, API standards, and client specifications

Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in rotating equipment engineering
  • Proven experience supporting construction, commissioning, and startup
  • Prior role as Lead Engineer on LNG projects (required)

  • Strong knowledge of API 610, API 617, API 618, and related standards
