FIRST Inspires in Manchester, NH is seeking an experienced engineering professional to design, prototype, test, document, and support the FIRST Robotics Competition game and playing field onsite. You will collaborate with staff and volunteers to create a safe, innovative competition experience that inspires the next generation of STEM leaders.

A BS/BA in engineering and 2+ years of related experience are required. Candidates based in New England or willing to relocate; onsite presence required.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in engineering with at least 2 years of related experience.
• Proficiency with CAD programs: SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo; Onshape is a plus.
• Experience with fabrication (wood, metal), CNC, routers, lathes, sheet metal design, TIG welding a plus.
• Familiarity with competitive robotics is a plus.
• Willingness to travel 5–10%.

Responsabilités

• Contribute to the FRC game design process by generating and refining game concepts.
• Create prototypes and assist in game discussions.
• Write the FRC game manual and design demonstration robots.
• Create technical drawings and assembly documentation for external production vendors.
• Collaborate with engineering staff to produce training documentation for volunteers.
• Manage requirements, specifications, and procedures to ensure goals are understood and met.
• Support in-house resources and staff; help develop goals and manage schedules with the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
• Work within the FRC Engineering Group to build in-house capacity for product testing and reliability.
• Develop methods to support FIRST expansion.
• Provide guidance to junior staff.
• During competition season provide evening and weekend support.
• Prepare and pack playing field materials.
• Produce a field assembly and packing document.
