Job summary

Thompson Fabrication in Wheatland, PA is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to improve the design, durability, and manufacturability of roll-off containers, front-load containers, and waste equipment. You will lead CAD work, support production, and apply lean methods on the shop floor.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, 3+ years in mechanical design, and a track record of cost and quality improvements in heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 3+ years design/manufacturing engineering experience with industrial equipment.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drawings; SolidWorks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Improve existing designs for durability, performance, and cost.
• Develop new container and equipment designs based on requirements.
• Engineer structural components and critical features.
• Standardize products to reduce variation and support manufacturing.
• Develop prototypes and coordinate testing with production.
• Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure designs meet safety and transport requirements.
