Job summary

The Lisbon Group, LLC in Houston seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer for Piping Systems. You will take technical accountability for piping design and deliverables across LNG, NGL, and energy transition projects.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, ensure compliance with relevant codes, and drive successful project execution from feasibility to commissioning in the energy sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering is required.
• 8+ years offshore/onshore upstream, midstream, LNG facility experience.
• Experience with LNG, NGL, and cryogenic/natural gas processing facilities.
• Proven multi-disciplinary project delivery accountability.
• Experience in piping system design including pipe stress analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design engineering for mechanical piping systems.
• Act as SME for mechanical piping systems and resolve issues per specs, codes and standards.
• Accountability for facility layouts complying with DOT 49 CFR 193 and NFPA 59a.
• Oversee orthographic drawings, piping layouts, and isometrics; manage MTOs.
• Coordinate with internal/external engineering and CAD resources on complex projects.
• Integrate piping systems into skid packages and BOP/stick-built designs.

Job description

We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer for Piping Systems possessing a strong ability to ensure successful project execution by taking technical engineering accountability for project deliverables. If you have a proven track record in piping system design and are interested in gaining exposure in the energy transition sector (LNG, NGL, decarbonization, H2, ammonia, etc.) then this may be the right opportunity for you. This position is critical to our success and will require a true expert in this space.

This role will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and will be a pivotal part of the foundation of our growing team. This position can be based in our Houston office.

What You Will Do

• Lead mechanical design engineering for mechanical piping systems
• Serve as the subject matter expert on mechanical piping systems and resolve engineering issues including while adhering to application specifications adhering to relevant philosophies, codes and industry standards
• Take engineering accountability for facility layouts which comply with DOT 49 CFR 193, NFPA 59a, and other relevant codes and standards
• Take engineering accountability for the delivery of orthographic, piping layouts, and isometrics. CAD design is completed by CAD department. The Mechanical Piping System lead will take engineering accountability for these drawing packages and MTO's
• Manage internal and external engineering and CAD design resources to deliver complex multi-disciplinary engineering projects
• Accountable for integration of piping systems into both custom skid packages and BOP / stick-built designs by working with design group
• Work and communicate with the project management team, including providing regular progress and schedule reporting

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of science degree in mechanical, chemical engineering or related (required)
• 8+ years related offshore and onshore upstream, midstream, or LNG facility experience with engineering contractor (required)
• Experience with LNG, NGL, and cryogenic / natural gas processing facilities
• Proven track record of successfully delivering small to medium size multi-disciplinary projects where you were directly accountable for identifying and closing technical gaps related to mechanical piping systems to exceed customer expectations
• We are an engineering and EPC contractor- a career dedicated to engineering contracting and EPC project execution is required to be successful
• Experience in a process industry setting in mechanical equipment engineering and an expertise in piping system design
• Must be able to complete piping system design including pipe stress analysisand pipe stress analysis reports for relevant process, utilities, and other services
• Experience developing and owning reports, creating and documenting, summary reports and PowerPoint slide decks (required) and leading customer review meetings
• Strong written and verbal communication skills (required)
• Ability to interact effectively with vendors and clients (approximately 85% of your work involves internal interaction - 15% external)
• International experience - we execute work across the globe (beneficial)
• Field experience including construction, commissioning, start-up, and operational support (beneficial)
• Hexagon Caesar II Pipe Stress Experience preferred
