Job summary

System One in Coppell, TX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer PE II to design and coordinate mechanical systems for energy and infrastructure projects. You will lead portions of projects, developing code-compliant designs for HVAC, hydronic, and thermal plant systems, while solving complex technical challenges.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support permitting and procurement, and produce calculations and documentation to meet energy efficiency goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems and design practices.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary deliverables.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently apply advanced engineering techniques to design and coordinate mechanical systems for energy and infrastructure projects across hospital and college campuses.
• Lead portions of projects, developing code-compliant, constructible designs for HVAC, hydronic, and thermal plant systems while solving complex technical challenges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate designs with existing facilities, support permitting and procurement, and address field conditions.
• Produce accurate calculations and documentation, delivering systems that meet performance, reliability, and energy efficiency objectives consistent with ENFRA’s design-build delivery model.
• Sign and seal engineering documents as required.
• Lead design and analysis of mechanical systems for projects of moderate complexity.
• Develop project deliverables including calculations, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Improve existing systems and support development of new solutions.
• Prepare detailed system configurations and control schemes with emphasis on long‑term energy savings.
• Conduct field investigations and support site visits.
• Coordinate and plan 3D laser scanning efforts.
• Coordinate with internal disciplines and support construction‑phase activities.
• Perform work with a high degree of latitude, resolving complex technical issues independently.
• Provide informal mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Interface directly with clients on technical matters.
• May act as task lead or discipline lead on projects.
