Westinghouse Electric Company in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 1 to join our New Components & BWR Engineering team. You will report to the Manager for New Components & BWR Engineering and operate on a hybrid schedule.

The role emphasizes analytical calculations, system design, and collaboration with customers and project teams, with occasional travel to client and vendor sites to support ongoing projects in the nuclear sector.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Willingness to travel to customer and manufacturing sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for large component design, analysis and fabrication; focus on replacement steam generators, AP1000 primary components, and BWR engineering.
• Perform analytical calculations (structural, dynamic and thermal hydraulic) and develop documentation.
• Develop design documentation including manufacturing drawings and qualification reports.
• Coordinate with technical leads, project managers and customers on assigned work scope.
• Occasional travel to customer sites and manufacturing vendors for on-site support and issue resolution.

Education

BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or recognized equivalent
