Job summary

System One in Sayreville, NJ, seeks a Mechanical Engineer for New Product Development and manufacturing. This contract-to-perm role is 100% onsite, with standard hours and a benefits package. You will develop machine programming and CAD models, create BOMs, and drive designs from concept through production.

You will lead tooling, CNC processes and documentation, ensure manufacturability, and coordinate with leadership to expand in-house capabilities while maintaining quality and cost controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
• Demonstrated CAD design experience with SolidWorks or Autodesk Fusion
• Practical CNC programming and machining experience, preferably with CNC lathes and Haas equipment
• Understanding of mechanical design, materials, tolerances, and drawings
• Ability to take a product from concept through design, manufacturing and production
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; capable of working independently
• Willingness to own a broad role and work with company leadership

Responsibilities

• Develop, set-up and test customized machine programming for tail pulley and nose pulley systems using CAD software
• Create production drawings, BOMs, material selections and tolerances
• Evaluate designs for manufacturability and performance
• Develop CNC programs, tooling, setups and machining processes for Haas lathe
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve quality and efficiency
• Take products from concept through prototyping, testing and production readiness
• Develop product specifications, documentation, catalog content, and listings
• Maintain ERP data and assist with production tracking, packaging and shipping coordination
• Assist with packaging and shipping coordination
• Collaborate with ownership to establish workflows, control costs and expand in-house manufacturing

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - New Product Development & Manufacturing
Location: Sayreville, NJ
Type: Contract to possible perm
Compensation: $30 - $35 per hour + benefits package
Work Model: 100% onsite initially
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities

• Develop, set-up and test customized machine programming used to manufacture tail pulley and nose pulley systems for various conveyor makes and models using SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion, or comparable CAD software
• Create production drawings, specifications, material selections, tolerances, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering revisions
• Evaluate designs for fit, function, performance, and manufacturability
• Develop CNC programs, tooling, setups, and machining processes for the Haas CNC lathe
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve accuracy, quality, and efficiency
• Take products from concept through prototyping, testing, refinement, and production readiness
• Develop product specifications, technical documentation, catalog content, and e-commerce listings
• Maintain product and order information in the ERP system and assist with production tracking, packaging, and shipping coordination
• Assist with packaging and shipping coordination
• Work with the owner to establish repeatable workflows, control costs, improve processes, and expand in-house manufacturing capabilities

Mechanical Engineer Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered. Minimum of Journeyman-level Apprecticeship or four (4) years of direct working experience in a Machine Shop
• Demonstrated CAD design experience using SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion, or similar software
• Practical CNC programming and machining experience, preferably with CNC lathes and Haas equipment
• Understanding of mechanical design, materials, tolerances, engineering drawings, and design for manufacturability
• Ability to take a product from initial concept through design, manufacturing, and production
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a hands-on manufacturing environment
• Comfortable taking ownership of a broad role and working directly with company leadership
