Job summary

System One is seeking a mid-level Mechanical Engineer to join a nuclear project in Hookstown, PA. This contract role is onsite, full-time, 40 hours per week, with compensation at $52.00 per hour, DOE. U.S. clearance restrictions apply; FE/PE licensure encouraged.

The engineer will plan, design, and oversee mechanical systems and piping, collaborate with a team, interpret CAD and 3D models, and help ensure safety and compliance on site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field required.
  • Power plant, process, and/or heavy industrial design experience preferred.
  • Pipe stress analysis knowledge or experience required.
  • Strong engineering principles and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork.
  • Able to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Attention to detail with a drive to learn and improve.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, procure, and oversee installation of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Complete objectives on time under supervision of senior engineers.
  • Read drawings, schematics, and CAD/3D reports for implementation.
  • Assist designers with structural design of equipment and piping.
  • Research and test performance of equipment and processes.
  • Present technical information to peers for review and procedures.
  • Provide training and discipline-specific expertise as needed.

Overview

System One is e are seeking a high-caliber Mechanical Engineer to join an engineering team in Hookstown, PA. This role is part of team working on nuclear project.

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities
  • Work on planning, design, procurement, and quality of installation of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Complete project specific objectives on time, under direction of Sr. Mechanical Engineer; receive instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
  • Assist mechanical designers and drafters in developing the structural design of equipment and piping systems using computer-assisted design (CAD) and 3D design software.
  • Research, design, evaluate, and oversee the installation of equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
  • Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Present technical information to peers or other personnel for review, to implement operating procedures, and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Provide specific to discipline technical expertise to the degree of preparing and providing training for other personnel; both within the company and for the customer.
Mechanical Engineer Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
  • Power Plant, Process, and/or Heavy Industrial Design experience.
  • Pipe Stress Analysis.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Complex Problem Solving.
  • Good Communication Skills (Active Listening, Verbal and Written).
  • Critical Thinking.
  • Judgment and Decision Making.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Strong desire to learn.
  • Must be a US due to Nuclear restrictions.
  • FE and PE or willingness to obtain both.
  • Energy and Chemical and/or Power Design Engineering Experience.
