Job summary

M3 Engineering & Technology seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer specializing in Material Handling to join our team in Charlotte, NC. You will design, specify, and procure mechanical equipment and bulk handling systems for industrial facilities, collaborating with process, structural, civil, electrical, and piping engineers.

Requirements include a BS in mechanical engineering and 5+ years of material handling experience, with AutoCAD and 3D design tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years designing industrial material handling systems.
• Experience with bulk material handling equipment and layouts.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and 3D design software (Inventor, Revit, SolidWorks).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop bulk material handling systems for industrial facilities.
• Perform engineering calculations and equipment sizing for belts, conveyors, crushers, mills, feeders, and screens.
• Prepare equipment layouts and general arrangement drawings.
• Develop equipment specifications and assist with procurement.
• Review vendor drawings and ensure project requirements are met.
• Maintain equipment lists and mechanical design documentation.
• Coordinate interfaces with piping, structural, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and process engineering.
• Provide technical support during fabrication, construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Ensure designs comply with industry codes, standards and client specs.
• Serve as Project Manager on small engineering projects, coordinating scope, schedule, budget, and client communications.
