Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Kinetics Group in New York. You will contribute to machinery analysis, design, and reporting, using CAD tools like Inventor or SolidWorks, with field work and cross-functional collaboration.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, FE exam, and a strong interest in machinery design and analysis, along with travel readiness. Masters and strong technical writing are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; Master's degree preferred.
• Successful completion of the FE exam is required.
• Strong interest in machinery design and analysis.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD).
• Strong technical writing skills are essential.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel for field work and observations.

Responsibilities

• Machinery analysis and design in collaboration with the engineering team to meet performance and safety standards.
• Prepare clear, concise reports and presentations of analysis results and recommendations.
• Utilize 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks) to create mechanical designs and drawings.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and methodical evaluation of mechanical systems; troubleshoot as needed.
• Occasionally travel to perform field work, collect data, and observe machinery in various environments.
• Work with senior engineers to review codes and standards and prepare field notes and technical reports.
