Job summary

Blue Origin's Colorado location is seeking a technically brilliant mechanical engineer to develop spacecraft motion control and aerospace mechatronic systems, leading design activities and ensuring high reliability. You will design bearings, gears, motors, and rotating mechanisms, generate documentation, and support environmental testing; 5+ years experience and SolidWorks proficiency required.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience designing moving mechanisms.
  • Proficient with computer aided design and analysis tools (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Excellent reporting and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop spacecraft motion control and actuation systems.
  • Mechanical systems design including bearings, gears, motors, and rotating mechanisms.
  • High reliability mechanical design and analysis for aerospace applications.
  • Generate design documentation and vendor specifications.
  • Support assembly and test including environmental testing, shock, vibration and thermal.
  • Review test data and recommend changes to products and/or processes.
  • Proactively identify roadblocks to technical progress and take steps to mitigate/avoid.

Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience designing moving mechanisms
  • Proficient with computer aided design and analysis tools (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Excellent reporting and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience working in aerospace
  • Experience with electronics packaging and wire harnessing
  • Experience with LabVIEW and Matlab
  • Experience leading a design team with or without direct reports
  • Base Pay Range for: CO applicants is $110,938.00 - $155,312.85
  • Other site ranges may differ

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
