Job summary

Wasatch Photonics, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative team. Responsibilities

  • Create assembly and part models and detailed drawings in SolidWorks.
  • Participate in engineering change management and document control processes.
  • Build engineering prototypes.
  • Perform product validation testing and document results.
  • Design and fabricate tools, fixtures, and jigs to support production.
  • Conduct tolerance analysis to ensure robust mechanical performance.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Create assembly and part models, detailed drawings, and bills of materials in SolidWorks
  • Participate in engineering change management and document control processes
  • Build engineering prototypes
  • Perform product validation testing and document results
  • Design and fabricate tools, fixtures, and jigs to support Production
  • Apply DFM/DFA principles to improve manufacturability and reliability
  • Conduct tolerance analysis to ensure robust mechanical performance
Experience/Qualifications
  • S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in product design and development
  • Proficient SolidWorks skills in part modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings
  • Strong curiosity and desire to understand customer applications
  • Clear and effective communicator
  • Strong time management and prioritization abilities
  • Ability to generate clear reports, presentations, and spreadsheets
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) for defining and interpreting mechanical tolerances
  • Experience with optics or photonics technologies is a strong plus
