Eaton’s Energy Transition Team invites Mechanical Engineering students to join as an intern/co-op in Moon Township, PA. The role offers either a rotational co-op or Summer 2027 internship and pays hourly between $22.15 and $27.69, contingent on skills and market considerations.

Your work will span mechanical design, testing, and integration of energy management systems and power grid solutions, collaborating across engineering disciplines to deliver new products per our Pro-Launch process.

Qualifications

• Must be actively enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or similar with graduation no later than August 2029.
• No CPT/OPT/STEM OPT sponsorship; Eaton will not sponsor.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Relocation is not provided; must reside within 50 miles of Moon Township, PA.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design and analysis using CAD and FEA; conduct kinematic simulations.
• Analyze and resolve mechanical issues with innovative designs.
• Design parts and assemblies using plastics, machined metals, and formed metals; package boards and components.

What you’ll do:

Position Overview: Eaton’s Energy Transition Team is currently seeking an Mechanical Engineering Intern / Co-op.

This position can either be a rotational co-op assignment, or a Summer 2027 internship.

The hourly rate for this position is $22.15 - $27.69 per hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Mechanical Engineering Intern / Co-op is responsible for supporting the creative design and development of connected home energy management systems, intelligent vehicle-to-home/grid (V2X) power management products, plus other electric power grid system solutions. This position will contribute to the overall Mechanical design of a product with involvement from project initiation through manufacturing launch, plus continuous improvement efforts. The Mechanical Engineering Intern / Co-op will contribute to the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components and work closely with the Engineering Manager, Program Manager, other Mechanical Engineers, System Architects, Firmware Engineers, and Electrical Engineers to develop products in an organized and expedient fashion per our Pro-Launch process.

What you’ll do:

• Perform mechanical engineering design and analysis using CAD solid modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), and kinematic simulations.
• Analyze and then resolve complex mechanical issues using unique, creative designs
• Design parts, mechanisms, and assemblies utilizing injection molded plastic, machined metal, and formed metal parts. Package electronic circuit boards and other electrical components into the final product.
• Participate in new product development/introduction, innovation, idea creation and implementation, prototype assembly and testing, and design-to-industrialization activities
• Support enhancements of existing products based on evaluations of existing and new technologies per Eaton’s strategic plans.
• Contribute to international project teams assigned to research, design, develop, test and/or launch new innovations.

• Must be actively enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or similar from an accredited institution with graduation no later than August 2029
