Job summary

The Toro Company invites driven mechanical engineering students to join its 2027 Summer Internship Program in Bloomington, IN. The program runs May 17, 2027 through August 6, 2027, with interns expected to start on May 17 and participate through the full duration.

Interns will perform engineering analyses, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and interact with vendors to select quality components. The experience includes exposure to CAD/CAE tools, reporting, and a pathway to a professional

Qualifications

• Majoring in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• Completed junior-level courses preferred.
• Strong desire to learn, collaborate, and effectively communicate in a team setting.
• Ability to stay organized and able to use Microsoft Office programs without much direction.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering analysis to predict behavior of proposed designs and resolutions to existing design problems.
• Interact with marketing, customers, service, manufacturing and distribution to understand requirements.
• Work with vendors to ensure selection of approved, quality components.
• Coordinate with groups like Experimental Shop, Test Engineering, CAE, Cost Accounting, Sourcing, Drafting, Manufacturing, Customer Service and Technical Publications.
• Provide reports, verbally and in writing, on development progress and engineering analysis of product design.
• Support Quality Policy by following the Quality System and participating in quality initiatives.

The 2027 Summer Internship Program will run from May 17, 2027, through August 6, 2027. Candidates must be available to start on May 17 and participate through the duration of the program.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

• Performing engineering analysis to predict the behavior of proposed designs and/or resolutions to existing design problems.
• Actively participating in the development and understanding of customer requirements through direct contact with marketing, customers, service, manufacturing and distribution.
• Working with vendors to insure selection of application approved, quality components.
• Communicating and coordinating work with the following Toro groups: Experimental Shop, Test Engineering, CAE, Cost Accounting, Sourcing, Drafting, Manufacturing, Customer Service and Technical Publications.
• Providing reports, verbally and in writing, on development progress and engineering analysis of product design.
• Supporting company Quality Policy by working within the documented Quality System, and participating in quality initiatives and training as needed.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

• Majoring in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• Completed junior-level courses preferred.
• Strong desire to learn, collaborate, and effectively communicate in a team setting while achieving a common goal.
• Ability to stay organized and able to use Microsoft Office programs without much direction.
