Job summary

Optimized Process Designs (OPD), a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience across EPC projects in natural gas and petrochemical industries.

This on-site role at our Katy, TX headquarters offers collaboration with experienced engineers to support equipment design, procurement, and project execution from development through commissioning.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Eligible for full‑time employment on or before Summer 2029.
• Eligible to work permanently in the United States without visa transfer or sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Support development of equipment specifications and RFQ packages for purchase of new equipment on active projects.
• Assist in reviewing vendor drawings and technical documentation for mechanical equipment on active jobs.
• Participate in reviews of PFDs, P&IDs, equipment lists, and 3D models.
• Collaborate with project teams to support procurement and technical evaluations.
• Participate in engineering reviews, risk assessments, and safety activities (PHA/HAZOP).
• Gain exposure to pipe specs, welding requirements, inspection processes, and testing plans.
• Support construction teams and participate in commissioning/startup activities including site visits.
