Job summary

Lockheed Martin Corporation in Manassas, VA is seeking a student engineer for a summer internship in our hardware/ mechanical engineering team. You will work with engineers, designers, manufacturing and test personnel to contribute to real projects and gain hands-on experience.

Eligible candidates are pursuing a BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering or a related STEM field, with coursework or hardware exposure.

Performs assignments in technical/engineering organizations (e.g., Hardware Engineering, Test Engineering) during vacations and short‑term breaks from college attendance while enrolled in an accredited degree program. Typically considered a Junior.

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent STEM field.
• Coursework, student projects, or hands‑on experience involving hardware design and assembly.
• Ability to work with engineers, designers, manufacturing, and test personnel.
• Must be a US citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Desired Skills

• Familiarity with 3D CAD modeling and assembly drawings.
• Understanding of mechanical fit, tolerances, and basic GD&T.
• Awareness of thermal management, structural loads, shock, and vibration.
• Ability to support drawing updates, parts lists and configuration changes.
• Active or prior holder of Secret clearance.

Pay Information

Full‑Time Salary Range: $22.66 - $31.67

• For (Washington state applicants only) Non‑represented full‑time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
