Job summary

Hypertherm Associates is seeking a newly graduated Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Hanover, NH. You will develop expertise in mechanical subsystems used in plasma and waterjet cutting systems, and support sustaining engineering changes across products.

You will evaluate materials, drive cost-reduction initiatives, and create detailed 3D models, drawings, and BOMs while collaborating with suppliers, manufacturing, and engineering teams to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 0–5 years mechanical design experience.
• Foundational knowledge of design principles and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and BOMs.
• Strong analytical, testing, and root-cause analysis skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in subsystems used in plasma/waterjet cutting systems.
• Support released products with mechanical design changes.
• Evaluate materials and components to address obsolescence and cost.
• Lead cost-reduction and product-improvement initiatives.
• Analyze drawings, specs, tolerances, and test data for compliance.
• Create and revise 3D models, assemblies, and BOMs.
• Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, and quality teams.
• Plan hands-on testing and maintain project timelines.
