An established industry player is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to contribute to innovative HVAC and mechanical utility designs for diverse projects. TheMechanicalEngineer II focuses on the design and engineering of HVAC and mechanicalutilities for buildings. Typical tasks and deliverables include load calculations, utility assessments, energy modeling, design reports, code evaluations, plans, P&IDs, schedules, installation details,equipment and system selection and specification, and coordination with manufacturers and trade partners. Tasks will also include utilizing software for building information modeling,computer-aided drafting and engineering calculations.Project workwill beunder the direction of a more experienced engineer andmayincludeall levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, constructiondocumentation and construction administration. This individual may also delegate basic and fundamental tasks to entry-level engineers and designers.
Core Responsibilities
Interfaces with clients and external partners.
Develops design and construction drawing packages and edits construction specifications on basic projects of limited complexity with oversight.
Participates and contributes to squad checks and overall commitment to producing quality deliverables.
Design mechanical systems (airside, chilled water, condenser water, heating hot water, steam, natural gas, compressed air, etc.) of basic complexity in conformance with code requirements and in coordination with other design disciplines
Performs envelope and load calculations, pressure drop calculations, and other engineering calculations of basic complexity as required to confirm project requirements are met.
Sizes mechanical equipment, ductwork and piping and develops system schematics
Provides mentorship to Mechanical Designer I.
Participates in basic project system design programming and master planning with support from Lead or Senior Engineer.
Supports construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development and construction progress reports.
Works closely with more experienced engineers and assists in the development of Mechanical deliverables.
Executes work on one or more intermediate level tasks simultaneously as delegated by the Lead or Sr. Mechanical Engineer.
The Individual will expand their knowledge and skill sets to include design and specification of more complex mechanical systems, including HVAC and mechanical utility systems and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (with a mechanical focus)
Minimum of 3 years of experience
Fundamentals of Engineering exam completion
Basic experience with performing engineering calculations, and developing and implementing HVAC, mechanical utility and piping systems designs
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Bluebeam Revu
LEED, WELL or other sustainable design accredited professionalor, experience with sustainable design
Life Sciences (Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Laboratory) or Food & Beverage industry experience
Basic experience with using and applying the mechanical/plumbing/fire/building codes
Basic experience with using and applying industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, OSHA, etc.)
Basic experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and support of field reporting
Basic experience in plumbing design
Basic experience using Revit plugins such as Enscape and Unifi
Basic experience building parametric workflows using Dynamo, Grasshopper, and/or Rhino within Revit
Proficient with basic internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination
Proficient with basic coordination with construction trade partners, vendors and manufacturers
