Job description

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to join our growing team!

The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design of facilities and systems associated with energy industry projects from inception through to delivery. The position will be responsible for performing engineering analysis and calculations, developing reports, interfacing with clients, as well as providing guidance to more junior personnel.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide engineering expertise for mechanical design, oversee the development of drawing packages, estimating, and functions for projects involving pipelines, process systems, and other energy industry related facilities.
  2. Provide technical assistance to Engineering and Operations Departments to resolve operating problems or to establish best operating practices.
  3. Take initiative to determine best paths forward for effective project execution.
  4. Effectively complete projects using engineering principles and techniques.
  5. Formulate conclusions and make recommendations.
  6. Read and interpret P&ID, technical drawings, schematics, equipment specifications, industry codes, and technical reports.
  7. General knowledge of industry codes such as ASME B31.3, 31.4, 31.8, etc.
  8. Produce details for project specifications and develop design requirements for projects.
  9. Confer with other engineers and personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  10. Perform basic modifications to computer aided design (CAD) and drafting functions to assist in completion of project deliverables.
  11. Possess knowledge of materials and material specifications.
  12. Perform design analyses, engineering calculations, and write technical reports.
  13. Work with CAD designers to develop drawing packages suitable for project construction.
  14. Provide direction to more junior personnel.
Position Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, from an accredited university.
  2. 3+ years of working experience required.
  3. EIT required, PE preferred.
  4. Ability to quickly adapt to diverse needs and changing projects.
  5. Willingness and eagerness to learn new skills.
  6. Ability to work in group settings with a project team and collaborate effectively with others.
  7. Competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  8. The position will typically require less than 20% travel but could be more intensive at times.
  9. Ability to independently perform engineering design functions.

Lake Superior Consulting provides competitive compensation. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, years of experience, and specific office/market location. The range of starting pay for this role is $80,200 - $110,200 per year.
