Job summary

Invenergy LLC in Bolingbrook, IL seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support remanufacturing and drivetrain manufacturing at the ICMS, focusing on technical problem solving, process support, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with shop operations, Quality, EHS, and engineering teams to standardize processes, resolve issues, and improve overall performance of ICMS operations.

Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, operations engineering, reliability engineering, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to support technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection data.
  • Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and support projects with moderate guidance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day engineering support for ICMS remanufacturing and drivetrain manufacturing activities.
  • Support teardown reviews and failure analysis of main shaft and drivetrain components.
  • Assist in evaluating wear, damage, and component condition to support decisions.
  • Support development, maintenance, and improvement of rebuild and assembly procedures, inspection requirements, and quality checkpoints.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and non-conformance investigations and support corrective actions.
  • Analyze inspection data, manufacturing reports, and repair outcomes to identify trends.
  • Work with Quality and operations teams to define inspection standards and documentation requirements.
  • Assist in identifying gaps in procedures and support standardized solutions.
  • Assist in developing and validating component acceptance criteria, tolerances, and fit/function requirements.
  • Support vendor performance evaluation through review of quality metrics and repair outcomes.
  • Contribute to development of engineering documentation and drawings.
  • Support engineering lab activities including CMM usage, measurement analysis, reverse engineering, and basic CAD/drawing support.
  • Provide input to safety and risk evaluations in coordination with EHS.
